What Are the New iPhone 8 Screen Features?
The current screen for the Apple is a LCD (Liquid Crystal Display). The new Apple iPhone 8 will be switched to OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) and actually an AMOLED which stands for Active Matrix (OLED). The following explains the differences between LCD and OLED well.
The difference between an LCD screen and an AMOLED one is how the light is used. The LCD screens currently on Apple’s phones have a back-light that’s always shining behind the screen. AMOLED screens don’t. Instead, pixels light up when electricity passes through them.
- There are a few things they are touting as part of the new iPhone 8. The glass is more durable, front and back for a smartphone. Having a glass back makes it easy to charge via wireless.
- There are 2 sizes new 4.7″ and 5.5″ retina HD display. The phones also have what’s called ‘true tone’ and the function of this is to adjust the white balance to match that of the light around you, making it easier to view your screen based on your environment.
- Dual domain pixels on the screen make it easier to view from any angle.
- There is a wide colour gamut providing for greater vibrancy and brilliance. This is based on their technology of colour accuracy.

iPhone 8 and iphone 8 plus are splash and dust resistant.
The camera on the iphone 8 has been improved and is now a 12 mega-pixel. More pixels means greater image resolution. The Samsung Galaxy S4 offers a 13MP camera, and the Galaxy S5 will offer a 16MP camera. The Apple camera has a faster sensor along with stabilisation for both photo and video. They have improved the portrait mode so background images blur more easily whilst maintaining a better foreground image. You can also adjust the portrait lighting. The A11 bionic chip is, in their opinion the smartest and most powerful for a smartphone ever with faster CPU (Central Processing Unit), greater power efficiency, their own custom GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) which is 30% faster than the A10 Fusion. It also powers augmented reality games and apps
So how about the charging? An issue that I see a lot with phones. This phone has the ability to charge without a cord but is it not better for our brains if we have less wifi and not more? Having said that, placing the phone on a mat will mean less need to replace the cords that seem to be forever breaking or not functioning.
The next step in iOS (Operating System) is 11 for the iPhone 8. Apps are more easily displayed in messenger so you have to tap less. And Siri as your personal DJ? Good or bad…you decide. Siri has been given a lot of power to do more so we need to make sure she doesn’t go listening in on conversations and making phone calls that we don’t want….or the ability to do this in the future.
